Wine bars and cocktail bars in Cannes.

Wine is drunk near the Forville market, cocktails on the Croisette and at Port Canto. Seven sourced addresses, with their real opening hours, and the days when you should not count on them.

Two drinks, two geographies

In Cannes, the evening drink is played on two very different maps. Wine is drunk on the town side, between the Forville market, Le Suquet and the streets behind rue d'Antibes, in wine shops that have put out a few tables. Cocktails are mostly drunk on the sea side: in the palace hotel bars of the Croisette, at Port Canto, and in a handful of independent bars in the centre.

Our view is clear-cut: for wine, stay near the market; for cocktails, go to a hotel bar and own the choice, because that is where bartending is taken most seriously, and have one drink there. The terraces in between, which pour both and specialise in neither, do not interest us.

This page covers wine and cocktails only. We have not tested any of these addresses: it is a sourced selection, built on the Cannes Tourist Office listings and official websites, checked in October 2026. Opening hours shift with the season, so confirm them before you head out.

Seven addresses, from a glass of wine to a cocktail

N° 01
Wine · 10 rue Marceau

Le Bar à Vin

The name says it all, and the place has been going since 1998 according to its Tourist Office listing. The decor as described: club armchairs, a mezzanine and a pool table, on a quiet street between the station and rue d'Antibes. The listing gives Monday to Saturday, 5pm to 12.30am, closed on Sunday. It is the simplest format in town for an evening glass of wine with no dinner attached. No prices are published: ask for the by-the-glass list when you arrive.

N° 02
Wine · Le Suquet

Cave Gencel

At 13 rue de la Miséricorde, on the slope that links the Forville market to Le Suquet, a wine shop that also serves on the premises, with seasonal sharing boards according to its official listing. The detail that matters: the hours on record are those of a shop, not a late bar. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday 9am to 7pm, Sunday 10am to 2pm, closed on Monday. Only Friday runs to 10pm. So this is a late-afternoon aperitif, or a Friday evening. Our Cannes wine merchants page covers the retail side.

N° 03
Wine · Forville market

Maison Grenache

At 10-12 rue des Halles, a few steps from the market. The Tourist Office files it as a wine shop, wine bar and tapas bar at once, with a terrace, and describes a selection for every budget plus a dedicated space for grands crus. Hours on record: Tuesday to Saturday 9am to 10.30pm, Sunday 9am to 5pm, closed on Monday. The same address and the same phone number also circulate under the name Ets Vallauri: both names point to the same street corner. It is the logical stop after a morning at the market, or before dinner on rue Meynadier.

N° 04
Wine with dinner · bd de la République

UVA

A Mediterranean restaurant that doubles as a wine bar, at 13 boulevard de la République, on the town side. This is not a drop-in bar: service is evenings only, 6.30pm to 10.30pm according to its public listing, and the stated range is 40-80 €. We include it for anyone who wants wine to be the subject of dinner, not just of the aperitif. Our entry sets out what we would check before booking.

N° 05
Cocktails · Croisette

Bar°58 at the Carlton, Martinez Bar at the Martinez

The two palace bars worth knowing. Bar°58, at 58 boulevard de la Croisette, serves seasonal cocktails under a stated 'from farm to bar' approach according to its official listing: drinks from 5pm to midnight, finger food from 5pm to 10pm, every day in 2026. The Martinez Bar, at 73 boulevard de la Croisette, opened in March 2025 with interiors by Rémi Tessier and appears on the 2026 Forbes Travel Guide list of distinguished hotel bars. Its hours are not reliably published: call the hotel. In both cases you can walk in without being a hotel guest, and smart dress is expected.

N° 06
Cocktails · Port Canto

Harry's Bar Cannes

The Cannes outpost of the Paris bar founded in 1911, at Port Pierre Canto, at the eastern end of the Croisette. The Tourist Office listing, updated in June 2026, gives year-round opening from noon to 2am, with a 5pm to 1am slot on Sundays: the two statements partly contradict each other, so check. From the Palais des Festivals, allow around thirty minutes on foot along the boulevard. This is the classic cocktail bar, for the standards rather than house inventions.

N° 07
Cocktails · centre

Ohm Circus

At 6 rue Venizelos, a few minutes from the station and rue d'Antibes, an independent cocktail bar with circus-inspired decor. The official listing, updated in August 2026, mentions creative cocktails, wines and spirits, opening Tuesday to Saturday from 7pm to 12.30am, and a range of 10-30 € per person. It is the alternative to the hotel bars: less view, less ceremony, and a bill that is easier to read.

What we'd skip

What we'd skip: building a 'wine bar' evening in Le Suquet on a weeknight without looking at the hours. The wine shops around the market are shops first. Gencel closes at 7pm four days out of six, and on Monday everything is shut, Gencel and Maison Grenache alike. Turning up at 8.30pm to a lowered shutter is the most common mistake in this category.

We would also skip doing several palace bars in one night. Their prices are not posted online and sit at palace level. One well-made drink, in just one of the two, beats a crawl. And we do not order a cocktail on a laminated-menu terrace on the boulevard: the view is the same as from the pavement, and the drink is not what the house does for a living.

Finally, this page is not a night out. Rooftops, pubs and clubs are another subject. Here, we are talking about what is in the glass.

When to go

Wine from 6pm to 8pm, cocktails after 10pm. The market wine shops live at aperitif time and close early, except Maison Grenache (10.30pm Tuesday to Saturday) and Gencel on Fridays. Le Bar à Vin and Ohm Circus take over until 12.30am. Hotel bars fill up after dinner: going at opening time, around 5pm, means having the bar and the bartender to yourself.

Slow days and the month of May. Sunday and Monday are the bad days: Le Bar à Vin closes on Sunday, Ohm Circus on Sunday and Monday, the market wine shops on Monday. That leaves the hotel bars and Harry's Bar. During the Festival, in mid-May, the Croisette bars are under siege and sometimes reserved for events: phone before you go.

Wine and cocktail bars in Cannes, common questions

Where can you have a glass of wine in Cannes in the evening?

Three sourced addresses: Le Bar à Vin, 10 rue Marceau, open Monday to Saturday from 5pm to 12.30am according to the Tourist Office; Maison Grenache, 10-12 rue des Halles, near the Forville market, until 10.30pm Tuesday to Saturday; and Cave Gencel, 13 rue de la Miséricorde, which only closes late on Fridays (10pm). We have not tested any of them: confirm the hours.

What is the best cocktail bar in Cannes?

There is no official ranking. The two best-documented palace bars are Bar°58 at the Carlton (seasonal cocktails, 5pm to midnight) and the Martinez Bar, opened in March 2025 and named on the 2026 Forbes Travel Guide list. Outside the hotels, Ohm Circus, 6 rue Venizelos, and Harry's Bar at Port Canto complete the list.

Can you go into a palace hotel bar without staying there?

Yes. Bar°58 at the Carlton and the Martinez Bar are open to non-residents. Smart dress is expected in the evening, and during the Cannes Film Festival access may be restricted by private events. A call to the hotel settles it in two minutes.

How much does a cocktail cost in Cannes?

Ohm Circus states a range of 10-30 € per person for 2026 on its official listing. The palace bars do not publish their prices online: expect palace pricing and ask for the menu before ordering. For wine, the wine shop bars by the market remain the cheapest way to drink a good glass.

Is there a wine bar open on Sundays in Cannes?

According to the hours recorded in October 2026, Cave Gencel opens on Sundays from 10am to 2pm and Maison Grenache from 9am to 5pm: that is an after-market glass, not an evening out. Le Bar à Vin is closed on Sundays. In the evening, the hotel bars remain.
