Japanese, burgers, pizza, vegetarian: eating something other than Provençal in Cannes.

Sushi on boulevard de Lorraine, a burger by Le Suquet, pizza on the Old Port, plant-based plates on rue des Serbes: nine verified addresses, Google ratings recorded in October 2026, nothing paid.

The rating and the volume, not the view

You can spend a week in Cannes without eating Provençal once, and eat very well. Sushi, burgers, wood-fired pizza, plant-based plates: all of these exist in the centre, and most of their best ratings sit one or two streets back from the sea, not on the boulevard.

Our position is simple: for these everyday cuisines, choose the address by its rating and its review count, not by its view. A pizza or a sushi platter does not need the bay to be good, and the price gap between the seafront and a quiet street easily pays for dessert.

A note on method: we have not eaten at any of these addresses. This is a sourced selection. Each one was checked against the Cannes tourist office listings or its own website (existence, address, type of cuisine, opening hours announced for 2026), and the Google ratings quoted were recorded in October 2026. None paid to be here. For Vietnamese and Thai, already covered, see our page on restaurants by cuisine.

Our notebook, cuisine by cuisine

N° 01
Japanese · sushi

Yoda Sushi: everyday sushi on boulevard de Lorraine

At 11 boulevard de Lorraine, set back from rue d'Antibes. The tourist office listing describes it as an Asian table, Japanese and Vietnamese: sushi, maki, sashimi, poke bowls and sharing platters, to eat in, take away or have delivered. Announced bracket: 15 to 30 euros per person, with 12-piece platters at around 23 euros (2026 prices). Google rating recorded: 4.6 over roughly 440 reviews. Announced hours: Tuesday to Saturday lunch and dinner, Sunday evening only, closed Monday. Confirm before you set out.

N° 02
Japanese · Croisette

Mr Nakamoto: the smart version, at the Mondrian hotel

At 45 boulevard de la Croisette, inside the Mondrian hotel. It is not strictly Japanese: the hotel presents it as modern Asian cooking that blends Japanese, Thai, Korean and Vietnamese influences, with a sushi menu and a garden terrace. Google rating recorded: 4.6 over roughly 270 reviews, in the highest price band used by the directories. It is the exception to our rule: here you pay for the setting, and you know it when you book. Service hours vary from source to source (lunch and dinner): check with the hotel.

N° 03
Burger

Black Sails: the best-rated burger in our survey

At 39 rue Georges Clemenceau, on the western side of Le Suquet. A pirate-themed tavern, filed under North American cuisine by the tourist office: burgers, meat and tapas. The official listing mentions a regional third place in the Coupe de France du Burger. Google rating recorded: 4.9 over more than 900 reviews, a rare score for that volume. Allow 15 to 40 euros per person à la carte (2026 prices). Note: the listing announces evening opening only, Wednesday to Sunday from 6 pm to 10 pm. It is not a lunch address.

N° 04
Burger · all-day service

Big Fernand: the safe bet when everything is shut

At 6 rue Teisseire, in the centre. It is a French burger chain, and we make no secret of it: its value in Cannes lies in its hours. The tourist office listing announces continuous opening from 11.30 am to 10 pm (10.30 pm on Friday and Saturday), every day. In a town where kitchens close between services, that is a useful plan B at 3.30 pm. Google rating recorded: 4.4 over more than 2,600 reviews. The listing dates from 2025: confirm the hours.

N° 05
Pizza · Old Port

La Pizza Cresci: the institution on quai Saint-Pierre

At 3 quai Saint-Pierre, facing the Old Port, near the town hall. The tourist office dates it to 1956 and describes it as specialising in wood-fired pizza, pasta and grilled meat. Two verifiable assets: the terrace on the port and the announced hours, from noon to 12.30 am every day. Its Google rating is average, around 4 over more than 6,000 reviews, which is to be expected for such a busy address. You go for the late hour and the port, with your eyes open.

N° 06
Pizza · better rated

Tredici and Cheer Mamma: two pizzerias above 4.5

Tredici occupies 11, 13 and 15 rue Louis Perrissol, in Le Suquet: pizzas, Italian cooking, a wine bar, open every day from 10 am to 11 pm according to its listing, with pizzas from 13.50 to 29 euros and an announced average spend of 27 euros at lunch and 35 euros in the evening. Google rating recorded: 4.5 over roughly 1,800 reviews. Cheer Mamma, at 11 quai Saint-Pierre, holds 4.7 over roughly 800 reviews; we could not confirm its hours, so call first. On paper, these are the two pizzerias in the centre where the ratio between rating and volume is strongest.

N° 07
Vegetarian

Acai Spot and Peanut's Café: the two plant-based addresses in the centre

Acai Spot, at 48 rue des Serbes, presents itself as plant-based: bowls, bagels and smoothies, with a menu described as almost entirely vegan by the HappyCow directory. Google rating recorded: 4.6 over roughly 310 reviews. Peanut's Café, at 6 rue Emile Négrin, is a daytime café whose official listing announces vegetarian and vegan plates and gluten-free options, at 10 to 18 euros for lunch, from 8.30 am to 6 pm Monday to Saturday and 9 am to 5 pm on Sunday. Both close in the late afternoon: these are lunch addresses. For a dinner with vegetarian options, the official listing for Le Grain de Sel, on rue Hoche, announces them too.

What we avoid

What we avoid: ordering sushi from a menu that also offers pizzas, burgers and mussels, facing La Croisette. The do-everything menus on the boulevard sell the view first. For raw fish, we prefer an address whose trade it is, with a rating held over several hundred reviews.

What we also avoid: crossing town for a fully plant-based address without checking it still exists. Vegan directories keep stale listings for a long time. We left off this page one frequently cited name whose opening in 2026 we could not confirm. A phone call or a glance at the day's Google listing saves a wasted trip.

Finally, we do not judge a pizzeria by its rating alone. An address at 4.9 over thirty reviews says almost nothing; an address at 4.5 over 1,800 reviews says a great deal. That is why several very high ratings in the directories do not appear here: the volume is too thin to rely on.

When to go

Lunch and dinner are not the same map. The plant-based addresses and the cafés close around 5 or 6 pm. Black Sails only opens in the evening. Yoda Sushi closes on Monday and at Sunday lunchtime. Conversely, Big Fernand and La Pizza Cresci announce service without a break, which makes them the two answers for mid-afternoon and late evening.

In May, during the Festival, and in July and August, book whatever can be booked, a pizzeria included. Out of season these addresses are among the easiest in town: they live on local custom and do not close with the beaches. To place these prices in the wider picture, see the three price tiers in Cannes.
