The Barrière five-star set opposite the Palais des Festivals, one hundred years old in 2026, with 335 rooms and suites. The most practical address in Cannes in a congress week, the most exposed the rest of the time. A sourced entry, with what we'd check before booking.
The Majestic stands at 10 boulevard de la Croisette, opposite the Palais des Festivals. Built between 1923 and 1926 to plans by the architect Théo Petit, it turns one hundred in 2026. The Barrière group's official page gives 335 rooms and suites.
It is a five-star hotel, not a Palace in the Atout France sense: on the 2026 list, the only Cannes hotel with the distinction is the Hôtel Martinez. The official page does, however, display the Leading Hotels of the World logo.
The restaurants have changed a lot. The private beach became Ciro's Cannes in April 2025, and in June 2026 the trade press reported the recent arrival of Beefbar Cannes in the lobby. Add Le Bar du Majestic and La Terrasse Piscine, beside an outdoor pool the hotel says is heated to 27 °C all year. The spa lists 450 m² and four treatment rooms. The Fouquet's name now appears on the official page only for breakfast: a buffet at €50 per person if not included, from 7am to 10:30am.
We have not slept there: this is a sourced notebook entry, not an account of a stay. Our reading is simple. You choose the Majestic for one reason: it is opposite the Palais. For a week of Film Festival, MIPIM or Cannes Lions, crossing the street instead of crossing town is a real gain. For a quiet weekend it is the reverse: you sleep at the most exposed spot on the boulevard. In that case, look at the Martinez, at the other end of the Croisette, or the Carlton.
Something else to know: 140 rooms were redone over two years by the interior architect Isabelle Stanislas, and in June 2026 the group confirmed its choice of Joseph Dirand for the next phase. A closure for works has been mentioned, with no schedule, and the site may not start for two or three years.
Being opposite the Palais: an asset in May, a drawback in August.
Booking without asking whether the room is one of the 140 renovated. With 335 keys, more than half were not part of that phase: the question is worth putting in writing.
Assuming the beach is included. According to the hotel, sunbeds must be booked in advance and cost extra, and the beach closes during some congresses and events, as well as for its annual closure.
Choosing it for quiet in high summer or during a congress. The location is its whole point: it comes at a price in noise.
We would ask for the exact category and which way the room faces, whether it has been renovated, and whether breakfast is included. We would check that the beach and Ciro's are open on our dates, and whether a congress is at the Palais that week: rates follow that calendar. Finally, we would ask about the works to come. The hotel switchboard answers on +33 4 92 98 77 00. We will add our verified notes after a visit.
