Plage Gazagnaire

Bd Eugène Gazagnaire, Cannes

The public beach on the eastern side of the Pointe Croisette, past the Palm Beach: free sand along a promenade, free parking nearby and far fewer people than on the Croisette. What the official sources say about it, and what still needs confirming.

What the official sources say

Plage Gazagnaire runs along Boulevard Eugène Gazagnaire, on the eastern side of the Pointe Croisette, just after the Palm Beach. The city describes it in one line: a beach bordered by a seafront promenade. It carries on into the Mouré Rouge beaches, towards the small port of the same name, where the city mentions a wooden pontoon and water sports. Gazagnaire and Mouré Rouge are both among the 12 Cannes beaches awarded the Blue Flag in 2026.

The tourist office speaks of "family and natural" beaches, more intimate than those in the centre and better known to residents than to visitors. It adds that you can hire a kayak or a stand-up paddleboard here, and that the Cannes Jeunesse water sports base is at Mouré Rouge.

Our view: this is the easiest free beach in Cannes if you come by car, and the quietest. The boulevard faces east: it is a morning beach, and the sun drops behind the buildings late in the day. For the neighbourhood around it, see our portrait of Palm Beach and the Pointe Croisette.

Access, facilities and parking

On accessibility, the city lists a ramp for people with reduced mobility between kiosks 2 and 3, under the watch of the municipal police. The fully equipped beach is close by: the Handiplage at Bijou Plage, on the other side of the point, free, open from mid-June to mid-September (10am-6pm in June and September, 9am-7pm in July and August), with prior registration through the CCAS and subject to conditions.

For parking, the tourist office mentions free parking less than 300 metres from Bijou Plage, so on the Pointe Croisette, and the Bijou Plage bus stop. Third-party guides mention a lifeguard post and supervision of the central section in season: neither the city nor the tourist office details this for Gazagnaire, so we give it as to be confirmed. The same caution applies to showers and to the rules on dogs.

What we'd skip, what we'd check

What we'd skip: coming here for width. The strip of sand is narrow and the road runs just above it: with young children, keep them in sight. We'd also skip looking for the buzz of the Croisette: this is a neighbourhood seafront, with its kiosks, and that is exactly the point. And we wouldn't count on the free parking after 11am on a summer Sunday.

We have made no on-site survey: treat this as a sourced notebook entry, closed in October 2026. Before going, we'd ask the city (switchboard 04 97 06 40 00) where the nearest lifeguard post is and on which dates it operates. The rest of the list is in our guide to the free public beaches of Cannes.
